Three talented Coco Art Gallery artists have been selected to display their paintings at the Southwest
Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. Artists from all over Florida submitted work for consideration.
The airport will be hosting its “Connections” Art in Flight exhibit for the next year starting on June 9.
Thousands of visitors and residents will get to enjoy this compelling exhibit daily as they pass through
the airport terminals. Art in Flight is a partnership between the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers and the
Lee County Port Authority, which brings art to public spaces at Southwest Florida International Airport.
The Coco Gallery artists selected for this honor include:
 
Barbara Sykes is a member of Florida Watercolor Society. Her life, career and art are intrinsically
intertwined journeys of self-discovery. She has been a producer of art since she was a child. Recently,
one of her paintings graced the cover of Estero Life Magazine. She exhibited in the Florida Watercolor
Society’s 2022 Online show, and the 36th All Florida Exhibition at the Alliance for the Arts. You can learn

Garry Scott Wheeler – “Ordinary Dream” acrylic 30” x 40 PHOTO ABOVE
Garry Scott Wheeler is a member of Fort Myers Beach Art Association and is an award winning
international acrylic abstract artist, author, and entrepreneur. He is also the president of the Art Council
of Southwest Florida. He recently won the Artavita Online International art competition and was featured
in the 9th Edition of World Wide Art Magazine. Last year he won two prestigious awards from
Contemporary Art Magazine. His work has been exhibited in Milan, Italy; London, England; Laguna
Beach, California and in 15 Florida shows in the past year. Garry’s work is available at Coco Galleries and
viewed online at www.gswheeler.com.
 
Scott Brown is a member of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society and exhibits his pastel, acrylic and oil
paintings throughout Southwest Florida. As a freelance and commissioned artist, Scott loves vivid
natural color and tries to incorporate refl ection, highlights and shadows in all of his seascape, sunscape
and landscape, representational paintings. He has enjoyed numerous awards and honors including
several 1st Place & ‘Best in Show’ selections and is humbled to have over 300 paintings hanging in
homes, offi ces and cottages all over the world. Scott works from his studio in the Naples Art District and

“These are exciting times for the visual arts in Southwest Florida,” says Art Council of Southwest Florida
President Garry Wheeler. “So many of the Art Council’s member organizations are rebounding from the
pandemic, hosting new shows and events and delivering workshops to countless artists in the region. It
is great to see the Coco Art Gallery artists being recognized in this manner and of course, I am very
